cameos

The Trust commissioned a feasibility study on the generation of hydroelectricity from the House Mill, through a combination of using both the four original water wheels and also modern external polymer turbines.

We could generate around 370 MWh using a turbine or combination of turbine and waterwheels. This would supply the electrical energy needs of 370 average UK houses and prevent the emission of 167 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere each year. The income from the sale of electricity will secure financial sustainability for the Trust.

Once the project is complete, the House Mill will offer a unique educational experience that combines both 18th and 21st century technologies.
